Living as sabriel part 2

For the second day of living as sabriel I did something that everyone could see. I copied her charter mark onto my forehead. It looked like a circle with a triangle inside it. It was definitely noticed but only a few people commented on it. It was a lot easier to manage than the bell for it was weightless and did not have to be looked after every second of the day. So this days part was a success.

Life as Sabriel part 1

This week we had to bring stuff to school that is from the book we choose. Today I a brought the bell that was supposed to be Saraneth the binder from Sabriel. this was annoying because when I carried it the bell would sound. This would be bad if I was actually in the book for if so the bell would send me into death. But it was fun to do and I am not sure what will be tomorrow but you will find out then.

The new guy fawks day

Guy Fawkes, why do we celebrate it on the 5th of November? Why not have it on any other day? Well I believe that instead of celebrating it on the 5th we should celebrate it on the last Saturday in September. This is because the last Saturday in September is the day before daylight saving begins. That means that it will still be dark but we can celebrate the light nights to come by lighting up the night with fireworks. The 5th of November guy Fawkes day why do we celebrate the parliament not getting blown up? Isn't it much better to actually celebrate something good? This is why I believe that we should have Guy Fawkes on the last Saturday in September.

Dream job

There are so many jobs out there but a frequently asked question is what is your dream job. I have had the same dream job for a while and that job is a physicist. Either experimental or theoretical I don't mind. This is an interesting job that works with foundation and the build up of all sorts of things from Time and space to how much rock and dirt has built up over the years.

The subjects I am going to have to take are these. Physics, math, chemistry, applied math, computer science and English. In the first year of university you have to do math, chemistry, physics and English. In the second year you have to do applied math, computer science and physics. You should do math but it is not required.

happy holidays and a merry new term

The holidays are always looked forward to but there is always something good in the term ahead.

This holidays the term seemed something to look forward to. But there was something interesting in the holidays. that thing was a day in town. only one day in town was had starting with taking the train in to town. we finally got to the theatre to watch the new Percy Jackson movie. After which we had lunch and walked to your mums work to spend the rest of the day cruising.

Something that I think everyone enjoyed this term was the spring fair. With plenty to do and lots of time to do it in I found myself helping with the tattoo stall. There were many stalls some games some food and some just stuff e.g. toys or books. There was one stall that I was quite intrigued by, the tom bowler. (sorry if I spelt it wrong) This was where you paid for a ticket then picked out a number if they had something with that number on it then that is what  you won.

In some ways school can be better than the holidays. What do you think?

Obsession

This is a post on my current obsession .
My current obsession would have to be mine craft videos, as I have been filling almost all my spare time with them.
What I love about mine craft videos is that the commentary is entertaining and funny as well as that the possibilities off videos are almost surprising. Lastly they never get boring and they never run out of funny or interesting things to say and if there is no talking it is a very action filled bit.

Try figure out what I do in the rest of my spare time.
(hint you can find it in the older posts)

Medieval rap up

This term we ended our medieval times topic.
We have studied the progress and effects of the plague, known as the black death.
Also we have learned the roles of every person in the society back then.

Another thing we have learned is that merchants would have to go to different countries and risk a lot to get stuff for there own land.
That the medeival times ended when inventions were created and castles were becoming useless.
I have personally found out the structure of medieval buildings and towns.

This year we have been doing tech. So far I have been in

- Electronics, where we made cars. I Am not great and was one step behind everybody else but by the end of the session I was always at the right place
- Next was woodwork where we made stools. I am terrible at woodwork but managed to get my white stool finished
- The the class I just finished was sowing where we made bags. My bag was blue/black denim (or what looked like it ) and on the inside a black background with multi-coloured hearts on it. Ib was a bit better at this and was comftorable sowing.

The skills I have learned are,
  • How to make an inanimate wheel spin by motor.
  • How to cut perfect circles and other bits and bobs like that.
  • The best way to drill holes.
  • How to unpick and how to thread a sowing machine.
  • how to sow a bag without making it messy.
My favourite tech class so far is definately sowing the room is just so comforting.

medieval learnings

This term we have been studying medieval times.

What we have learnt is that the king is highest but rarely rich enough to have his own army so he gives barons and knights land so that they provide him with serfs and knight to fight. Somewhere between the knight and serfs are the merchants and crafts men.
The knights and barons are called nobles and they may own a section of land and got paid by the serfs who farm his land.
Priests were often rich, for the church had a lot off power.
We have learnt about crop rotational cycle, where there are two plots with different plants and one with no plants.

What I would like to learn is

How often would war break through neighbouring countries.
And would they ever be in peace or alliance.
How did they write ( what font, the language) and how did messages get around.

Pipe

This week we painted the pipe by Renee Magritte. I think that although my words were a bit clumsy I think that it turned out ok. The downside t my thing was that I wrote on the bottom ceci n'est une pipe this is a pipe instead of ceci n'est pas une pipe this is not a pipe. apart from that I did the shading well and over all I am happy with my pipe.

Problem solving

This will be about how I can improve in my problem solving skills.

Well, how does one improve in problem solving skills. For one I can carefully read the question as to understand what I have to solve. I can figure it out into a number question. Thirdly, practise, I can see problems around me so why not use them to improve my problem solving skills.

Lastly I can use the Internet and practise professional questions so that the other ones I do will gradually get easier to understand. Plus there are always web sites that can help with the bits of problem solving you are not so great at.

Review of Saint Bridgids and Saint Mary's

First at Saint Mary's I arrived late and went on the tour with two of the year 13's. The tour was very long and we kept on running into other groups. Another down point was they did not have very good facilities. I cant yet compare it to other schools but the languages seemed good. It was a longer tour than I expected.

Then there was Saint Bridgid's. It was very fun plus awkward because I do not have the very good reflexes needed for one of the games. The other games were fun including gotcha and days of the week. During the monring tea I made a friend called kate. unfortunately she was not in my group. This was just as fun as I expected if not not more. I got out of it more intent to make new friends in new places.

ST Bridget's / ST Mary's open day

Tomorrow I am going to the Saint Mary's open day with the the rest of the year 8 girls. I am hoping that I will be able to tell what classes I would like to take and whether I like the school. The way I can make it enjoyable for others is to listen and take in everything.

We are also going to Saint Bridget's. I am hoping that it will be fun and that we will learn about the school. Some ways to make it nicer is to be respectful and to talk to the people that I don't know. Another way is to participate fully in everything.

Financial literacy

Just the other day we had a guy talk to us about financial literacy. This may seem an uninteresting topic but the guy did well to hide it.

The main points of this were;
-In saving you had to be clear about your goal, it has to be achievable and it has to be realistic. A realistic    time frame and a realistic goal.
-To spend some on you but save some too
-When deciding a job, pick one that you are interested in as well as the money. you need , for jobs, experience, qualification and motivation

All this affects me because I now know that I should pursue my dream job of a scientist and it will help me on my way to being a good saver. (No credit cards and reward yourself along the way)

HOLIDAY

This was the master chef programme in my holidays.

The first week of the holidays my sister and I went to a master chief programme. 4 days, 8 recipes a lunch and a desert each day. On Monday, the first day, the organisers explained to us the health and safety rules and the procedure. Then it was on to work. We started of making ambrosia, a sweet treat of yogurt, cream marshmallows and fruit. That all went well, Aimee and I being the quickest at whipping the cream.

But then there was the bacon and egg pie to make. Unfortunately there wasn't enough resources for my group to make it so we had share with the others. Thankfully there was plenty for everyone. I was disgusted by the fact that one of the people who made it ate four big pieces of it.

Tuesday

Tuesday was great. We started off making bread and butter pudding. That was easy enough but looked disgusting before being cooked. By at the end of cooking it we decided to savour food for home. After half an hour Aimee had to go to a party so I was left alone to make the shish kebabs. I managed to make it with the ingredients of capsicum, tomato, onion and meat. after a unfilled afternoon we ended up not eating them.

Wednesday

Today was ANZAC biscuits and winter hamburgers. My group this time instead of making the dessert we made the winter hamburgers. they were very good after the long time it took to make them. YUM. By the time we were set to make the ANZAC biscuits there wasn't enough for the batches my group would make.

After waiting along time for the ingredients we decided to make a half batch just to get one or two each.

Friday

I missed out Thursday because it was ANZAC day. Anyway, on Friday we had to make, firstly quesadillas. These are tortillas filled with beans, ginger and butter. They turned out dry and burnt.

Then we made self saucing chocolate pudding. For most this would be a real treat but unfortunately with the chocolate factor this was not for me.

Over all, the master chef programme turned out great.

stats

I have improved on remembering the fine details of bar graphs and histograms. There is not much that I can think of except speed. I am pretty slow in all maths but I think that with practise, I can finish my maths a lot quicker. The sheets we were given for practise were the most effective way in which we learned. with the knowledge from the lesson the sheets helped to make it stick in my brain.

Comic

I think that my comic going well although it is going to be hard to know how to change it. Usually you cannot see the bad things in the work that you do but instead in others. So that is why I am going to get a trusted fellow (a friend who would not lie and has a good eye for things) I have learnt how to correctly draw a face and draw eyes as they should be,with flowing patterns throughout their depths. I should really work on my lightly pressing and on my shadowing. Especially the light touch for i am doing a fading scene where it is used greatly.

So if any of you out there know how to help please leave comment. So can you help me?

The new year

It is a new year and I am a different person. And yet the same.

I still love books although now I can read them much faster faster. This year I strive to be a better both intellectually and in kindness.
For those of you you don't know me I am a person especially annoyed by my sister and the fact that all off my cousins are smarter than me (and that is saying something) .And yes I am not the most humble person in the world. e
Now about school;
The school has not changed much but the fact that I am off the oldest here on thy schools very grounds.
Finally I am in the highest math group and I intend to stay there
